From Your Chapter Director

Weather rumors for March indicate we could be in for a lot more snow yet this month, seems like old man winter just does not want to leave. I was in the Tulsa OK area a few weeks ago for work and saw several motorcyclists out riding, good possibility they were just riding to and from work. That immediate area had no snow on the ground (at least not while I was there) and the temperatures hit maybe the 40 degree area during the day. A little on the cool side for riding but very doable for the diehards. In Minnesota we will have to wait a while yet for our opportunities.

Chapter C members will be participating in a MFA (motorcycle first aid) class along with Chapter L on Saturday April 3rd at 1pm at the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake. Anyone wanting to attend please email rsvp.

An ERC (experienced rider course) is also in the planning stages with a tentative date of April 25th in Mankato. There are only three dates offered for this course this summer in Mankato.

Our fundraiser will be held 11 am June 12 at the beautiful German Park in New Ulm. Join us for good food and great fellowship. We had a new location this year to show off another one of New Ulm’s great parks. Next month will have a map and directions to park included with notice.

Chapter C’s next get together will be 4:30 Sunday March 28th at Searles Bar & Grill located on the corner in downtown Searles.  Kevin Heap will be joining us to present the Co-Rider training at that time. Come join us, visit with your friends and enjoy some great food.

Spring should be just around the corner (at this time who knows when that will be?) and it is time to get your motorcycle ready for some riding …. Or at least schedule any work needed to be done before riding. A few of the common items to look at: Are the tires in good condition and enough thread? Was the battery getting weak last fall (mine was getting slower turning the engine over)? Brake fluid level to full mark and brakes functioning correctly? Lights all functioning properly?

Think Spring!
